On September 29, 2022, we heard from candidates for Fremont City Council District 4: Yang Shao and Bryce Beckel. We primarily discussed their positions on housing and homelessness.

2022 alameda county “Point in Time” Count

Every two years, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires communities to conduct a Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of individuals, youth, and families experiencing homelessness and provide accompanying data.

The Point in Time Count was on February 23rd, 2022, and Fremont for Everyone volunteers participated in the effort.

Score an Affordable Housing Project with Catalyze SV

Homelessness: A Conversation with Abode Housing

On January 17th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, we held a lively discussion with Abode Services in how to be a more effective advocate as we explore some of the policies and economic conditions that shaped modern homelessness, and what remedies we have at our disposal. Their Homeless Orientation video is recommended viewing for all advocates for the unhoused.

Fremont Mayor Candidate Forum

Fremont for Everyone was pleased to host a debate on September 23, featuring three candidates for Fremont Mayor: Justin Sha, Naz Khan, and current Mayor Lily Mei. This was a great opportunity for many residents to hear from the candidates about key community issues.

This was a moderated conversation between the candidates featuring pre-selected questions, followed by a moderated audience Q&A. Major topics covered include: housing, homelessness, infrastructure (including traffic), social services, public health, public safety, education, local businesses, and budget.

Fremont for Everyone was pleased to host a debate on August 26, featuring two candidates for Fremont City Council, District 6, Yogi Chugh and Charlies Liu, as well as written responses provided by Jhansi Kalapala. This was the first opportunity for many residents to hear from the candidates about key community issues.

This was a moderated conversation between the candidates featuring pre-selected questions, followed by a moderated audience Q&A. Major topics covered include: housing, homelessness, infrastructure (including traffic), social services, public health, public safety, education, local businesses, and budget.

California Assembly District 25 Candidate Forum

Fremont for Everyone was pleased to host a debate on July 22, featuring Alex Lee and Bob Brunton, the two candidates competing for California Assembly District 25 on November 3, 2020. This was the first opportunity since the March primary where the candidates could share their views on housing and other key community issues.

This was a moderated conversation between the candidates featuring pre-selected questions, followed by a moderated audience Q&A. Major topics covered include: housing, homelessness, infrastructure (including traffic), social services, public health, public safety and revisiting traditional forms of policing, budget, addressing LGBTQ+ community needs, and addressing structural racism.

Fremont for Everyone was pleased to host a debate on June 23, featuring Fremont City Councilmember Vinnie Bacon and Dublin Mayor David Haubert, the two candidates competing for County Supervisor for District 1 on November 3, 2020. This was the first opportunity since the March primary where the candidates could share their views on housing and other key community issues.

Tenant Protections during COVID-19

Join attorney David Bonaccorsi and Fremont for Everyone as we learn about evictions moratoriums and heightened renter protections during the COVID-19 pandemic. David is a former Fremont City Councilmember, former Planning Commissioner, and partner with Bernald, Balgley & Bonaccorsi, LLP in Newark. He has practiced law in the Tri-Cities since 1987, focusing primarily in civil litigation, real estate and employment law, probate, personal injury, and appellate advocacy. This webinar was originally broadcast on May 4, 2020.


January Feeding

After a successful pilot on December 18 featuring burritos, we hosted a hot food feeding on January 31, 2020.

The goal of this program is more than just providing food. It is about nutrition education. It is about building trust and communing with our unhoused neighbors. Volunteers are encouraged to dine and mingle!

Fremont Story Training + Letter Writing

Join Fremont for Everyone & California YIMBY to learn about how to develop your housing story and use it as an organizing tool. Our stories are one of the most powerful ways we have to reach & persuade people. Then, we'll use the stories we just developed to take action, writing letters to our state senator to support SB 50, the More HOMES Act. SB 50 is a critical housing, equity, and climate solution that will help build the new homes we need in the places we need them most: near quality jobs & transit.

We learned about the tools to become more effective organizers and community advocates, and organized into smaller sub-groups based on interest. Aaron lead training about an organizing model used successfully by the Sierra Club, the Obama campaign, and other grassroots activists.

Live on Bolly 92.3FM The Power Hour with Yogi Chugh and Dharminder Dewan. The September 29 show guests were Vinita Verma and David Bonaccorsi, talking about homelessness, shelter crisis and Fremont’s Homeless Navigation Center.

Celebration and Next Steps Party

Wednesday, September 25, at Niles Discovery Church

After much hard work and support for the Fremont Housing Navigation Center by the Friends of the Navigation Center, YIMBY, Niles Discovery Church, Fremont City Council, Fremont City Staff, The Mission for the Homeless, Renegade Feedings, Sidewalk Talk, and others gathered to celebrate and discuss next steps for helping the homeless. Our Keynote speaker, Louis Chicoine (Executive Director of Abode Services), shared his perspectives of the homelessness crisis and gave us ideas to pursue towards mitigating homelessness. We then broke up into groups to discuss areas of education, volunteerism local advocacy, among other topics.
